Mobile App is "Makin' Moves"

We're Making Moves with Mobile App Tracking!

Let's talk about some of the cool stuff we at MyCartage have been up to in the world of mobile app tracking. We think we're doing some pretty unique things that no one else is quite matching right now.

Apple has some pretty strict privacy rules that developers have to work with. For instance, apps now have to let users delete their accounts, plus they need to be totally upfront about what the app actually does. This has been a bit of a puzzle for us at MyCartage, as our app needs to keep an eye on users’ movements and share them with our team and customers.

So, how are we making this work at MyCartage?

  1. Background and “Always On Tracking” Feature

At MyCartage, we make sure the app needs the highest permissions to use the tracking feature. That way, you know it's working right.

A lot of apps these days have “soft” permissions, meaning they only track when the app is open. But that wouldn't work for us - in trucking, we need non-stop tracking.

Our app's special trick is that it only starts tracking when the user says it can. From a business owner's point of view, this is really important - you need to know that the app is doing its thing when it says it is.

  1. Our Secret Sauce

We don’t just use the location API on devices - instead, we access the devices' task management system and add in a passive location listening task. By going into this background tasking system (which you can only do with the highest permissions), we can get a load of location data from mobile phones.

Here's the key part:

You don't have to worry about troubleshooting with settings.

Feature StatusTracking Mode

YES, YES BABY

Background Tracking

NO, WE DONT WANT IT

Foreground Tracking

Heads up: This does use battery power a bit quicker, but we're on it - we're working on solutions to fix this in upcoming updates.

  1. Separation of User Accounts

Right from the start, user accounts are separate from company owned data. User accounts can belong to anyone - customers, drivers, you name it. And companies can assign roles to users like Customer, Contractor, Employee, or Admin. This means businesses keep their data, but users still have control over their own info, so they both get data protection.

We're really proud of this mix of features. We truly believe our app has the potential to shake things up big time.

We're all about making high-tech stuff accessible for everyone, whether you're a small business or a big corporation. We think this is a win-win situation that could really change the game in the industry, and we're excited to be leading the charge in this trucking tech revolution. We can't wait to be the first to offer this level of service to everyone out there.
